Norwegian Study of Life Course, Aging, and Generation (NorLAG)

NorLAG is a study that provides new knowledge about aging and older years in Norway. So far, three rounds of data collection have been completed (2002, 2007 and 2017). The study sheds light on key areas of life for people born between 1922 and 1966 and their close family members (partner, parents and children). Questionnaire data is linked to annual register data. This combination of data provides unique opportunities for researchers from different disciplines to study the causes and consequences of time and order for transitions that characterize the second half of life.

NorLAG data is available free of charge for research purposes. In addition to a basic module with key information about the respondent (eg gender, year of birth), the data is organized into 18 modules covering the following main areas: (1) Family and social networks; (2) Work and activities; and (3) Health, well-being and values.

Principal Investigator(s): Welfare Research Institute NOVA at OsloMet and the Norwegian Center for Research Data (NSD) with funding from the Research Council of Norway’s program for research infrastructure.
