Flemish Study on Parenting, Personality, and Development

The FSPPD, in which a sample of 600 Belgian families is followed, started in 1999. These data allow to investigate the full complexity of personality development, its relations to parenting and adjustment, and processes by which these factors jointly contribute to an (un)successful transition into emerging adulthood. The FSPPD contains unique child and parent personality data, based on sound Big Five measures, measuring the broad Big Five domains as well as the more narrow personality facets, covering ages 4 to 20 year. In addition, we have comprehensive information on both supportive parenting and negative parenting as well as stressful life experiences. Finally, this study uses a prospective multi-informant multimethod approach: since 1999, mothers, fathers and teachers are included and since 2007 also children function as informants.
