Collaborative Longitudinal
Personality Disorders Study (CLPS)

CLPS is a multi-site NIMH-funded study that sampled patients with borderline, avoidant, obsessive-compulsive, schizotypal PD or major depression without a personality disorder, who were followed with yearly assessments for 10 years to establish the course of personality disorder. Sample

Composition: Clinical sample (Participants in the study were treatment-seeking at intake or had recently been in treatment with a mental health professional and were between the ages of 18 and 45 years. They had no lifetime history of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder; no current substance intoxication or withdrawal, or other confusional state; and an estimated IQ greater than 85.)

*Note: There were 668 original participants, and later a minority-saturated sample was added to increase diversity, bringing the total N to 733. However, only 668 were followed all ten years.
